Some of the biggest things to note about these changes:

  • The Tourism & Hospitality sector is now classified as a Critical Sector, and anybody who works in the Northern, remote, and very remote areas of Australia will be able to count this as specified work, making them eligible for a second or third Working Holiday Visa, available to those who lodge their application from March 2022 and will take into account work undertaken in these areas from today. You can also work for longer than 6 months with the one employer without requesting permission.
  • If you were unable to travel over to Australia, or had to leave early due to COVID-19 you will be able to apply for a replacement visa from July 1st 2021 with a nil Visa Application Charge. From March 2022 eligible current and former WHV holders in Australia will be able to apply for the replacement Visa.

These changes will provide more flexibility and more opportunities for those who have missed out on this amazing opportunity and still want to travel over to experience the joy of living in Australia.
